Unlike other competitors who spent the majority of their time conceiving ideas, Ching-Shan confidently shared that inspirations readily came to her. She finished the first piece on the third day and the other within another two days. Ching-Shan revealed one of the judges and founding members, Young-Chul Choi, was shocked with her fast progress and spoke highly of her capabilities and talent. Ching-Shan Chang shares her experience at the 7th international Antonín Dvořák composition competition
Ching-Shan Chang confessed, “it is inevitable that expectations from the society, parents, friends around you and other factors lead you into a world of bewilderment upon graduation. I am lost to what my primary goal is - the degree? the actual abilities? or the dream? It is extremely hard to find a middle point in everything.” Because of the decrease of classical music market and the possibilities of pursing other paths, Ching-Shan slowly realizes that the industry is pushing away its audience and opportunities for communication; and this trend is marching against her vision.
